Michigan Scientific’s end of shaft slip ring assemblies are used to make electrical connections to thermocouples and strain gages and mount directly on the end of a shaft. They have two components; a rotor, which rotates with the shaft, and a stator, which is stationary and passes the signal to the DAQ. The signals originate at a sensor, strain gage, or thermocouple, that are lead to the rotor so that the signal passed through the stator to the DAQ. Commonly, the sensors are used to measure torque, stress, temperature, vibration, and acceleration on devices for wheel testing, halfshaft measurement, gear box measurements, powertrain testing, and many other applications.

The PS-DC controls the amplifiers, and the excitation to strain gage bridges, and commands spinning strain gage amplifiers to apply their internal shunt calibration resistor to the appropriate arm of the strain gage bridge.
The WIP is a combination of MSC's precision strain gage amplifier and two precision thermocouple amplifiers. The WIP is ideal for collecting data in wheel applications.
